The Macabebe Association of Southern California
(MASCA) is a socio-civic organization of Southern
municipality of Macabebe, Pampanga in the
Philippines. MASCA is registered as a non-stock,
non-proft corporation in the State of California.
MASCA is also a faith-based association that annually
commemorate the feast of San Nicolas de Tolentino,
the patron saint of Macabebe, Pampanga.
Annual events include:
1. Association Picnic. Held every 4th of July weekend,
the new set of executive officers are elected in the
annual gathering.
2. Novena for San Nicolas de Tolentino. 2 novenas
are held in preparation for the annual fiesta. The first
novena is 9 consecutive Saturdays before the Labor
Day weekend while the second is 9 consecutive days
before the Labor Day weekend. The 9th day of each
novena is the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.
Members choose which novena they attend or
complete. After the 9th day novena, members share
a potluck dinner.
3. Fiesta Day. Held on Sunday of the Labor Day
weekend, a mass is celebrated in honor of San
Nicolas de Tolentino at the Holy Rosary Parish in Sun
Valley, California. After the mass, a procession is
held from the church to the home of Flor Bustos
where breakfast is served. Flor Bustos is the
caretaker of the image of San Nicolas.
4. Annual Ball. Held on the evening of Sunday of the
Labor Day weekend in a Los Angeles area hotel, the
outgoing officers express their gratitude to the
association while the incoming officers are inducted
into office.
